BUILDING RENOVATION &

FOR SUSTAINABLE ENERGY EFFICIENCY
REVITALIZING MULTI-FAMILY BUILDINGS:
A SUSTAINABLE PATH TO ENERGY EFFICIENCY
Tackling the climate crisis through the renovation of existing structures is not only strategic but essential. Buildings are responsible for roughly 40% of global CO₂ emissions and consume 30% of the world’s energy.
Recognizing this, the European Union and national regulations like Germany's Gebäude-Energie-Gesetz
(GEG) and Austria's commitment to building renovation have set ambitious targets for energy efficiency and sustainability in the built environment. Achieving these goals requires a transformative approach that begins with precise data and actionable insights into our current building stock.
FROM AS-BUILT DATA TO ACTIONABLE RENOVATION INSIGHTS
Revitalizing a multi-family house sustainably demands accurate, up-to-date data, especially when original plans are outdated or missing. At GEOBILITY, we bridge this information gap by performing high-resolution as-built surveys that form the foundation for detailed renovation planning. In our recent project for a multi-family rental building in Austria, our team conducted a comprehensive survey in just one day, capturing each of the 18 units across four floors, from the ground to the attic. Utilizing advanced LiDAR scanners and photogrammetry, we created a precise digital model of the building.
These datasets serve as the foundational layer for the creation of a digital twin, ensuring that subsequent BIM processes are built upon a bedrock of precise, georeferenced data.

SMART TAGS & DEEP
ANALYSIS
FOR INFORMED
RENOVATIONS
Following the data capture, our platform allows stakeholders—architects, building physicists, and other experts—to enrich the digital model with critical information. These "smart annotations" or "tags" add layers of knowledge to the model, enabling structured analyses. For this particular building, we focused on insulation and heating systems, providing the architect and building physicist with the comprehensive data needed to make informed recommendations for energy-saving improvements.
WHY REACT WHEN YOU CAN PREDICT?
Most of our current building stock predates modern energy standards, making precise diagnostics vital for uncovering opportunities for sustainable upgrades. GEOBILITY’s platform provides a robust assessment of the building's condition, translating findings into data-driven recommendations that guide effective and economically viable renovations.

BUILDING BETTER:
ALIGNING WITH EU
BUILDING
STANDARDS
The EU has set ambitious standards for building sustainability. By 2030, residential buildings must achieve an energy efficiency class of at least E, advancing to class D by 2033. This standard affects millions of buildings, as many currently fall within the lowest energy efficiency categories. Our approach at GEOBILITY supports these regulatory goals, empowering building owners and stakeholders to implement impactful upgrades that drive energy efficiency and reduce carbon footprints.
